This past weekend, I played in a Doubles Tournament as my FLGS. I took the Executioners and once again partnered with Chris’s Tyranids. He’s been doing very well with the new book so far, so we had high hopes. This tournament had three games, and Escalation, Stronghold Assault, and 40K Approved Forgeworld were all allowed. Here are our lists:

Chapter Tactics: Angels Revenant and Red Hunters

These are Chapters that I'm not too familiar with, as they are from other Forgeworld books rather than the Badab War. It seems they don't have quite the depth of coverage that the Badab Chapters have, but they do get their own Chapter Tactics.

Angels Revenant

The Angels Revenant were part of the Fall of Orpheus. They have the option to use Ultramarines Chapter Tactics or use unique Chapter Tactics to represent their Chapter after the Orphean Campaign. If they do so, the have Preferred Enemy and Hatred when fighting Necrons. When fighting any other army, they become Fearless when the detachment loses half of its units.

Mantis Warrior Chapter Tactics and Ahazra Redth

The Mantis Warriors are a White Scars successor, and trade a preference for bikes for excellence in guerilla warfare in dense terrain. As Shadow Killers, all Mantis Warriors infantry have Move through Cover and Hammer of Wrath. Beyond that, they gain Furious Charge when charging from cover. This all sounds pretty good, but the Mantis Warriors lack a means to get into this cover in the first place. The ability to Scout or Infiltrate would be huge for them. As it is, I feel like this rule really benefits assault Scouts, but everything else will gain only situational benefits. In all of that, I think army-wide Move through Cover is the biggest advantage.

Lessons from the Darkenvault

The Mordian 102nd was a whirlwind of activity. Orders had come down that they were to depart their prepared defenses and finally take the offensive against the Necrons infesting Toma III. Troopers in impeccable blue and yellow uniforms hurried along the line, relaying orders and coordinating the thousands of infantry and dozens of tanks that would hopefully force the Necrons back to their tomb-city. It was even rumored that the Astartes would be joining the offensive, but no one seemed to know what Chapter or in what numbers.

Executioners Devastators and Tactical Marines

Having done some more whimsical models, I decided to finish off some older projects. I still needed 5 bolter marines to fill out my missile launcher Devastators, so here they are.
